Senior Send Off

This series of photo's were shot over a two week period and are images in real time of those leaving the house. 

Oakland University senior nursing student, Madison Gabrysh, looks to her graduation outfit, disheartened by the news commencement has been pushed back to August 27-29th, due to the COVID-19 breakout. She packs up her things to leave the sorority house and move in with her parents to quarantine herself.

The house cat named Albie, who has lived in the house for 2 years, stares out the window on a beautiful sunny day. His life will not change due to quarantine regulations, however his presence in the house bring joy to those still living there.

Oakland University seniors Julia Wood, Kirsten Durant, and Paige Spinale relax in the living room of their Sorority House Alpha Delta Pi for the last time together. With social distancing in effect, many seniors living in the house will move back to their hometowns for good.

With seven women living in the sorority house in total, the fridge is completely full before the social distancing rules are announced from Michigan’s Governor Whitmer on March 10, 2020. After this state if emergency is declared, only one student still resides in the house.

Paige Spinale relieves boredom with a 750-piece puzzle in the living room. “My goal is to complete little sections every day,” Spinale says. “Visualizing the pieces of the puzzle coming together reminds me I’m one day closer to being out of quarantine.”

Oakland University Senior and former Alpha Delta Pi President Julia Wood packs up her belongings to move out of the room she has lived in for three years.  Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, her parents decide for her to move back home. Pictured here is her empty room.

Housemates Megan and Avery no longer have filled shoe bins and have fully moved out of the sorority house. They are the first to move out, leaving only five more members in the house.

Still functioning weekly, is what is left of the chore chart, designed to assign each girl a chore that is to be done every Wednesday. With news of the social distancing alert, now only residents Paige Spinale and Molly Bitterman remain.
